General Rules and Regulations for ALL Classes

Due to regulations by the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, pressure washing on the grounds is strictly prohibited. If you are found pressure washing your vehicle on the grounds you will be disqualified from all classes that your vehicle is registered for.  No refunds will be given.

2017 Rules updates are all listed below in each class, highlights are as follows:

DOT Classes- No Trans Brake

Modified-Tube chassis permitted (No Rail Cars)

Outlaw-No Rail Cars

Street- Highway approved gasoline & diesel fuel only


 WV Mud Hunters has the right to cancel any event without prior notice or reason. These rules and regulations supersede any previous rules and regulations presented by WV Mud Hunters.

Anyone found in violation of the rules will be disqualified - NO EXCEPTIONS/NO REFUNDS

Absolutely no one is allowed on trackside except for contestants, pit crews and staff. This is for insurance purposes and will be STRICTLY enforced.

1. All drivers must have a valid driver's license or proper identification in their possession to participate in the mud bog. 

2. No coolers allowed on the grounds. 

3. No one under the age of 16 allowed in the pit area without parental supervision. 

4. Contestant admission will be deducted from the cost of one class entry except Outlaw and Modified

5. Drivers are responsible and liable for all members of their pit crew. 

6. All trucks must go through tech and be registered for each class that they are participating in, prior to the drivers meeting.

7. All drivers must sign a release form. 

8. All vehicles will be labeled with a class letter and a number at tech inspection. 

9. The tech official has the final say on vehicle inspection. 

10. The speed limit in the pit area is 5 mph. 

11. Competition vehicle must be operated in a safe manner at all times. 

12. Anytime a competition vehicle is running a licensed driver MUST be in the driver seat at all times (pit area, staging, track, etc). 

13. Pit officials reserve the right to stop or disqualify any vehicle not being operated in a safe manner. 

14. All drivers must wear DOT approved helmets and seatbelts during competition. 

15. All vehicles must have a mounted fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. 

16. Transmission shields or blankets are recommended in all classes. Farm Boy, Modified Farm Boy and Outlaw classes; transmission shields or blankets are mandatory. 

17. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting 1/2 hour prior to race start. 

18. Any driver or crew member that verbally or physically abuses a track official at any time will be disqualified and removed from the grounds. 

19. Truck should only be driven in the pit during your class. 

20. Absolutely no backing up in the pit allowed. 

21. Pulling the cable out of the pit is not permitted; driver will automatically be disqualified. Any part of the vehicle exits the pit between start and finish line, driver will automatically be disqualified.

22. Vehicle substitutions allowed with approval from tech. 

23. NO REFUNDS given for vehicle failure. Driver will receive broke ticket for the next event held by WV Mud Hunters during the 2017 season. Broke tickets will only be honored for the class and driver that they are issued for. 

24. Multiple drivers can register in the same class but the vehicle can only place once. 

25. When your name is called you will have three (3) minutes to get to the starting line. If you do not make it to the starting line within three (3) minutes you will be disqualified. 

26. The run starts with the green flag and stops with the red flag. 

27. Once the forward motion starts your time begins. When the red flag is given driver must IMMEDIATELY stop. The distance will be measured by the flagger. 

28. In the case of a tie, those vehicles will run a tie-breaker. The tie-breaker will be decided between the farthest distance or the fastest time. 

29. Drivers are responsible for where the tow cable is attached to the vehicle. If attached point breaks the driver is disqualified. 

30. All decisions made by pit officials are final. 

31. All street vehicles must be washed off before leaving event. 

32. WV Mud Hunters will NOT be responsible for mud droppings from vehicles after leaving the event. 

33. WV Mud Hunters will not be liable or responsible for any damages to ANY vehicles. WV Mud Hunters is not responsible for any personal belongings. 

34. For any reason you wish to challenge the validity about one of your opponent's vehicles you must first put up $100 for the vehicle to be checked out. If in fact the vehicle is found to be illegal your opponent will be disqualified and you will receive your $100 back. If nothing illegal about the vehicle is found, then the opponent you challenged gets your $100. 

35. Any driver consuming or under the influence of alcoholic beverages and/or controlled dangerous substances before or during the event will be disqualified and removed from the grounds. NO REFUNDS. 

36. If any vehicle and/or driver is disqualified for any reason ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. 

37. No fuel lines allowed in the cab of the vehicle.

38. Any trans coolers, oil coolers, radiators and plumbing must be shielded away from drivers.

DOT Classes will be labeled according to tire size.

DOT Vehicles 35'' and down

DOT Vehicles 39.5'' and down

DOT Vehicles with any DOT tire size

*Tire sizes are according to DOT markings. Markings must be visible. No markings = no running. No cuts, No paddles, No tractor tires

Class PP : Powder Puff

Class OPP : Outlaw Powder Puff

Class SL : Street Legal

Class FB : Farm Boy

Class MFB : Modified Farm Boy

Class O : Outlaw

*Tech officials have the final say on the vehicle meeting class regulations and safety rules.

Rules and Regulations for DOT Classes

1. Vehicle must go through tech inspection. 

2. Class based on largest equipped tire.

3. Fuel must be gasoline only. Race fuel permitted. Diesel fuel permitted in diesel engines. 

4. No nitrous oxide, alcohol or nitro methane (nitrous bottles must be removed).

5. Naturally aspirated only. No blowers, no aftermarket injection systems, No turbos unless factory equipped. 

6. Must be stock OEM frame. Aftermarket lift kits permitted. 

7. Engine must be located where number one cylinder is; center or in front of the front rear. Except in Jeeps with a V-8 conversion kit.

8. All doors, fenders, hood, etc must be in place and securely mounted where applicable. 

9. Doors must be able to be opened from inside and outside. 

10. Modifications for body lightening are permitted. Must maintain factory look. Gutting permitted. 

11. Must have firewall in factory location. 

12. Driver's seat must be securely mounted in stock location. 

13. Vehicle must have cab, seatbelt and windshield. Lexan permitted (no Plexiglas). 

14. Battery must be securely mounted. If battery is relocated must be enclosed. 

15. Any vehicle with a soft top must have a roll bar. 

16. Headers/open exhaust permitted. Exhaust can be upright or down. 

17. Must have a mounted fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. 

18. No aftermarket engine blocks.

19. No trans brake

20. No fiberglass or carbon fiber springs. 

21. Spring must be in the stock location. Minimum of 3 leafs in the rear, 2 leafs in the front). No sliders. Axles must be securely mounted. 

22. No 3 or 4 links. 

23. No chain drives or aftermarket transfer cases. 

24. No cut, modified or tractor tires. Tires must be DOT approved. 

25. Shut off switch must be within reach of the driver in race position. 

Rules and Regulations for Powder Puff

1. Powder Puff class will follow DOT classes A, B and C rules. 

2. Must be a female driver. 

3. Any DOT approved tire size permitted. 

Rules and Regulations for Outlaw Powder Puff

1. Outlaw Powder Puff class will follow Outlaw rules and regulations.

2. Must be a female driver.

Rules and Regulations for Street Legal

1. Vehicle must go through tech. 

2. All drivers must have a valid driver's license in their possession. 

3. Vehicles must have tags and insurance. Must show proof of matching insurance, registration and tags at tech (all numbers must match). 

4. No dealer license plates. 

5. Highway approved gasoline or diesel fuel only. No race fuel, CAM 2 or fuel accelerators. 

6. Vehicle must have stock frame. Aftermarket lift kits permitted. 

7. No open headers allowed. 

8. Must have full exhaust. Must exit behind the cab. 

9. Tires and wheels must be DOT approved. No cut, modified or tractor tires.

10. Any vehicle with soft top must have a roll bar. 

11. Must be naturally aspirated unless factory equipped. 

12. No nitrous oxide. 

13. No aftermarket engines. 

14. Shut off switch must be within reach of the driver in race position. 

15. Any items in the open bed of your truck must be secured. 
 
Rules and Regulations for Farm Boy

1. Vehicle must go through tech. 

2. Tires must be DOT approved. 

3. No paddle, cut or tractor tires. 

4. No nitrous oxide permitted. (Must be naturally aspirated). 

5. Must be stock OEM frame. Aftermarket lift kits permitted. No tube frames. 

6. Vehicle must have cab, seatbelt and windshield. Lexan permitted (No Plexiglas). 

7. Soft top vehicles must have roll bar. 

8. Engine must be located where harmonic balancer is center or in front of the front rear. Except in Jeeps with a V-8 conversion kit.

9. All doors, fenders, hood, etc must be in place and securely mounted where applicable. Doors must be able to be opened from inside and outside. 

10. Modifications for body lightening are permitted. Must maintain factory look. Gutting permitted. 

11. Must have firewall. 

12. Battery must be securely mounted. If battery is relocated it must be enclosed. 

13. Headers/open exhaust permitted. Exhaust can be upright or down. 

14. Must have a mounted fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. 

15. Chain drives and aftermarket transfer cases are permitted. Chain drives must have shield. 

16. Vehicles must have drive shaft loops and u-joint shields. **See bottom of rules for requirements**

17. Alcohol drivers must have SFI approved fire suit of a 3.2 rating or higher. 

18. Shut off switch must be within reach of driver in race position.

19. All drivers are recommended to wear a fire retardant suit. 

20. Vehicle must have SFI approved transmission blanket, shield or case

Rules and Regulations for Modified Farm Boy

1. Vehicle must go through tech. 

2. Paddle, cut and tractor tires are permitted. 

3. Nitrous oxide, alcohol and forced induction are permitted. 

4. Aftermarket lift kits permitted. Tube chassis permitted. No rail cars.

5. Vehicle must have cab. 

6. Vehicles without windshields require driver to wear a full face helmet. 

7. Drivers with nitrous oxide or blower must wear a flame retardant suit. 

8. Alcohol drivers must have SFI approved suit of a 3.2 rating of higher. 

9. Must have a 4 point roll cage tied to frame (not body). 

10. Driver must have a 5 point harness. 

11. Must have an outside kill switch located on the rear of the vehicle. 

12. Must have firewall. 

13. Battery must be securely mounted. If battery is relocated, it must be enclosed. 

14. Must have a mounted fire extinguisher or fire system within reach of the driver. 

15. Chain drives and aftermarket transfer cases are permitted. Chain drives much be shielded. 

16. Vehicle must have SFI approved transmission blanket, shield or case.  

17. Vehicles must have drive shaft loops and u-joint shields. **See bottom of rules for requirements**

18. Shut off switch must be within reach of driver in race position.

19. All drivers are recommended to wear a fire retardant suit. 

Rules and Regulations for Outlaw

1. Vehicle must go through tech. 

2. Driver must wear a flame retardant suit with neck brace. 

3. Alcohol drivers must have a SFI approved suit of a 3.2 rating or higher. 

4. Drivers must wear a DOT approved full face helmet. 

5. Vehicles without windshields will require driver to wear a full face helmet. 

6. 6 point roll cage required. 

7. Tube chassis permitted. No rail cars.

8. Must have a kill switch for driver and on the rear of vehicle. 

9. Must have firewall. 

10. Battery must be securely mounted. If battery is relocated it must be enclosed. 

11. Must have a mounted fire extinguisher or fire system within reach of the driver. 

12. Vehicles must have drive shaft loops and u-joint shields. **See bottom of rules for requirements**

13. Chain drives and quick change transfer cases are permitted. Chain drives must be shielded. 

14. Paddle, cut and tractor tires are permitted. 

15. Vehicle must have SFI approved transmission blanket, shield or case. 

16. Shut off switch must be within reach of driver in race position.
 

Drive Shaft Loop & U-Joint Shield Requirements

FarmBoy, Modified FarmBoy and Outlaw

1. On drive shafts 18'' or shorter a minimum of one drive shaft loop properly centered required. On drive shafts longer than 18'' a minimum of two drive shaft loops are required. Location of 2 most outer loops should be no less than 12'' from the end of the drive shaft/u-joint. 

2. Loop material shall be made of steel no less than 3/4'' wide and 1/8'' thick. If aluminum, minimum of 5/16'' thick. NO CHAINS. 

3. Must have shields covering all exposed driveline u-joints. Shields should cover entire u-joint and be no less than 3'' in length. 

 

WV Mud Hunters Motorsports reserves the right to change, delete or alter these rules and regulations at any time without prior notice. 

It shall be the driver’s responsibility to read and understand these rules and regulations. 

All rules will be strictly enforced starting at the first race of 2017.
